Main duties of the job As an On-Premises Platform Engineer within the NCA, you will play a fundamental role in supporting the operation and maintenance of on-premises server and platform infrastructure crucial for healthcare operations. Your responsibilities encompass a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of NCA IT systems.

Your primary duty will involve assisting in the setup, configuration, and upkeep of on-premises server and platform environments across NCA sites. This includes aiding in the deployment of physical and virtual servers, storage systems, databases, middleware components, and other platform infrastructure components, adhering to NHS standards and industry best practices.

You will be tasked with providing technical assistance to diagnose and resolve server and platform issues and incidents promptly. Utilising your problem-solving skills and familiarity with server and platform technologies, you will contribute to identifying root causes and implementing solutions to minimise downtime and disruptions to healthcare services, ensuring optimal system performance.

You will also support the implementation of basic security measures to safeguard server and platform environments and sensitive data. This may involve assisting in the enforcement of access controls, monitoring systems, and adherence to security policies to mitigate cybersecurity risks within server and platform systems.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Relevant degree level or equivalent or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience. Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable ITIL Foundation Relevant subject matter qualification (e.g. Microsoft/Cisco/VMWare) or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.

Knowledge, Training & Experience Essential Knowledge of using IT Service Management (ITSM) Systems Able to work within a team and have the knowledge and experience to work individually to resolve complex technical faults and issues. Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment Some knowledge of common alternative subject matter systems such as Unix, Linux, OS X.

Desirable Knowledge of working in a Healthcare IT environment.
