Oncology Dietitian

These specialist oncology dietetic posts at Chesterfield Royal Hospital are new posts due to the Trust providing substantive funding following the previous full-time post funded for 2 years by Macmillan.

This is therefore an exciting opportunity for Dietitians who have significant NHS experience and experience working with individuals living with and beyond cancer, to develop the nutrition and dietetic cancer services. The Trust currently employs a part-time head and neck specialist Dietitian and the new post will utilise the previous scoping work to shape the services for the other types of cancer treated at Chesterfield Royal Hospital as well as providing highly specialised nutrition and dietetic services.

The post holders will work alongside our team of 25 staff consisting of Dietitians, a Nutrition Support Nurse, Dietitian Assistants, and Administrative staff.

Whilst all the team providing the nutrition and dietetic services across North Derbyshire are employed by and based at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, services are provided at locations based on individual needs across the community. The Trust is fully supportive of remote and home working where this is appropriate for the role.

Dietitians wishing to work part-time will be considered for these posts but please indicate on your application form the number of hours you would ideally like to work.

Job Purpose:

To provide a highly specialised comprehensive nutrition and dietetic service to individuals with adults living with or recovering from cancer and their carers across the North Derbyshire health community. To work with the Macmillan Lead cancer nurse, Macmillan information and support centre, patients and families and other key stakeholders to identify the required demand and gaps in current cancer pathways and service provision. To benchmark and research best practice to understand what nutrition & dietetic services would be of benefit to patients on defined cancer pathways. To support service redesign and development of new dietetic cancer services from the outcomes of the Macmillan post scoping, taking into account the ambitions of national NHS and cancer strategies. Our Vision:

Exceptional patient care provided by exceptional people.

Our Mission:

To bring our people, communities, and partners together – providing patient care we can all be proud of. We all play a part in achieving this by living up to the values we promise to our patients and each other. As members of staff, we will always be guided by our Proud to CARE values:

COMPASSION

– treating everyone with kindness – welcoming diversity and inclusion, considering individual needs; and challenging inappropriate behaviours outside of our values. AMBITION

– Aspiring to be the best – reaching high standards, providing exceptional care and services; and achieving measurable improvements in people’s health and wellbeing. RESPECT

– Valuing and appreciating everyone – listening, learning, and acting on their experiences, being open and honest; and recognising that working with others brings benefits. ENCOURAGEMENT

– Opportunities for all – supporting education and development, helping people to bring their improvement ideas to life and speak-up; and getting everyone involved in our future. Please see attached the Job Description and person specification for the main responsibilities and duties of the job.
