The Office of Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) supports the Police and Crime Commissioner serving Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The OPCC provides a link between Hampshire & Isle Wight Constabulary (HIOWC) and the communities they serve through setting the budget and holding the Chief Constable to account in the delivery of an efficient and effective service. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a new Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance to join the team. This is a key role within the OPCC; a Senior Leadership position and part of the Executive Group with a wide range of statutory and corporate responsibilities. About the Role This role is at the heart of the business and will touch on every area of the OPCC as an organisation. It will lead on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer with responsibility for all corporate aspects of the office, business services, and non-financial governance and compliance. Acting as Deputy Monitoring Officer to the Chief Executive, the role will support them in all statutory and legal requirements. With responsibility for leading teams who manage risk, force performance oversight, data protection management, and statutory requirements on the management of police complaints and misconduct hearings. There will also be direct line management of 5 managers and their teams. In addition, the post holder will have responsibility for managing the Executive Office which supports the Commissioner and Chief Executive. The post holder will be required to attend the office in Fareham and other Force sites on a full-time basis. This role is politically restricted. About You We are looking for a candidate educated to degree level, or who has substantial comparative workplace experience. You will have extensive experience and proficiency in governance and compliance, alongside the corporate principles of risk associated with a regulatory framework. You will also have experience of working in a senior level role and be able to demonstrate a high degree of self-initiated ability and make decisions, often at pace. As a Senior Leader, you will have leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, as well being committed to change, business improvement, and service delivery. It is essential that you are able to undertake research and write reports to influence others when sharing the results. It is important that you are comfortable and competent in working within a political environment in the public sector.
