Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Software Engineering General Summary: As the OpenBMC Lead, you will spearhead the enablement of OpenBMC for a next-generation server-class platform. This role involves extensive collaboration with internal teams and external upstream communities, including the Linux and commercial OS ecosystems, the OpenBMC community, and relevant standards bodies. You will engage with customers and third parties to enable new platforms and provide critical input to our SoC and platform architects for future designs. Role and Responsibilities: Define future server-class SoCs and platforms. Lead the development of an OpenBMC solution for a next-generation server-class platform. Identify skill requirements and assist in hiring engineers. Collaborate with other teams on bring-up, debugging, diagnostics, firmware lifecycle, etc. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. 4+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc. Preferred Qualifications: BS/MS in electrical, computer engineering or computer science or equivalent professional experience. 15+ years of experience in Linux development for embedded and/or server systems. Strong understanding of server platform concepts and design constraints. Proven experience in OpenBMC development. In-depth knowledge of RAS (Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability). Proficient in programming with experience in OpenEmbedded-based build systems. Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills. Good understanding of distributed revision control systems. Experience contributing to Open Source projects with an 'upstream first' approach. Experience developing or contributing to server specifications. Low-level knowledge of communication buses such as I2C, Ethernet, PCIe. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Work Experience: 15+ years of software engineering or related work experience. 10+ years of experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc. *References to a particular number of years experience are for indicative purposes only.
