Commissioning Manager – Adult Social Care 6 months Interim Contract £500 p/d per day (Via Umbrella) Inside IR35, Full Time London – Local Authority This is a pivotal role within our Adult Social Care (ASC) Commissioning team, reporting directly to the Council. You will be responsible for managing placements across a variety of care types, including residential, nursing, supported living, homecare, and post-16 provision. This will involve working with a diverse group of vulnerable adults, including those with mental health challenges, learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, and individuals transitioning into adult care services. Your expertise will ensure that the Council understands local needs and uses data-driven insights to prioritise resources effectively, shaping commissioning strategies that drive positive change. Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a specialist commissioning team to deliver effective commissioning arrangements and improve service delivery. Build and maintain positive relationships with care providers, health, housing, and social care partners, as well as elected members. Develop and implement business systems, policies, and processes to ensure compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Monitor local care markets, stimulating innovation and supporting sustainability to maximise outcomes for residents. Work closely with regulatory bodies, care governance teams, and providers to ensure all placements meet high standards and comply with legal frameworks. Represent the Council in external forums and frameworks, driving collective commissioning efforts to improve placement sufficiency and cost-effectiveness. What We’re Looking For:

Proven leadership experience within commissioning, procurement, or a related field in adult social care. Strong understanding of legislation, best practice, and market dynamics within the care sector. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and organisations. A strategic thinker with the ability to transform insights into actionable commissioning strategies. Financial acumen, ensuring decisions deliver value for money and align with budgetary constraints. A commitment to fostering innovation and delivering improved outcomes for vulnerable adults.
