A Snapshot of your day As an Operational Engineer (Ireland) for Siemens Energy Grid Technologies Service, you'll represent the Engineering (Technology & Innovation) department and collaborate with the Grid Lifecycle Services teams. You'll support Energy Transition and Growth in Ireland's Electrical Infrastructure by addressing technical issues, breakdowns, and queries related to primary, protection, control, and SCADA systems. When not handling technical queries, you'll support maintenance, deliver system improvements, and improve business processes, procedures, and tools. How you'll make an impact Provide direct customer-facing support for high-profile clients such TSO/DNO and Asset Operators. Be the first point of contact for selected Ireland-based sites for maintenance schedules and warranty. Perform 1st level fault finding on various primary, secondary, HVDC, STATCOM, SVC, Control & Protection systems. Grow local expertise in fault diagnostics, fault resolution, testing and system configurations. Proactively respond to customer requests in a timely manner to maintain service level agreements (SLAs). Build task/work reports to be sent to clients. Handle faults from initial contact to final completion in accordance with SLA's. Maintain existing and grow new relationships with internal business partners for engineering support. Provide out-of-hours and weekend support for our clients (as required). Ensuring consistency and alignment to processes. Ensure that safe systems of work are always employed and all safety documentation, i.e., method statements and risk assessments are made available within the prescribed timescales. Help plan and coordinate annual maintenance scopes at various Ireland substations. Carry out visual monthly inspections across numerous sites within Ireland. Utilise the business warranty system (JIRA Service Desk) to update clients on fault progress. Be the SE representative to supervise subcontractors for any medium to high-risk jobs. What you bring Essential Degree or equivalent experience level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related subject areas/experience. Able to produce and align with safe systems of work. Must be able to work independently and in a remote team-oriented environment. Effective ability to multi-task handling concurrent duties throughout the day. Exposure to Control & Protection Systems. Experienced in safe working on equipment within a live Low Voltage (LV) environment. Good experience solving technological or electrical type issues/faults. Solid understanding of operational or industrial networks. Willingness to travel Ireland wide and in some instances overseas (UK) to assist with installation, maintenance and repair work across our UK&I install base. Microsoft Office skills including, but are not limited to Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel and Word. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to optimally interact with all stakeholders and senior management. Willingness and ability to learn new skills and techniques quickly and efficiently. Must hold a full driving licence. Preferred Understanding of Industry relevant communications protocols. Operational knowledge of SVCs/STATCOMs and HVDC systems. Exposure to programming/configuration. Exposure to Siemens proprietary configuration packages (Digsi, SIMATIC Manager).
