My client is a large secondary school based in North West London, looking to recruit an Operations and Estates Manager to be a member of the senior leadership team.

The main duties are:

Serve as the liaison between the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and support teams, ensuring clear communication and direction to facilitate the smooth running of daily operations and special events. Oversee efficient site support to maintain the security, cleanliness, and general upkeep of the buildings and surrounding areas, ensuring all standards are met. Adhere to and promote safe working practices across all tasks. Organize shift patterns to meet the needs of the school, ensuring the premises are accessible outside regular school hours and on weekends for events and activities. Audit the administrative requirements of the school and assign staff to ensure seamless administrative functions. Collaborate with the SLT on strategic planning and development projects to drive the school’s progress. Develop and lead the creation of a comprehensive maintenance plan, ensuring both long-term strategic goals and regular termly tasks are addressed, and compliance with mandatory requirements is achieved. Supervise the operations and site teams, ensuring tasks are prioritized and staff are effectively deployed on a day-to-day basis. Oversee annual audits and reports required by the Department for Education related to estate management. Manage contractors on site, ensuring minimal disruption to lessons and activities. Lead the development, implementation, audit, and review of the school’s health and safety management systems. Provide expert advice to ensure the safety and suitability of facilities for students, staff, and visitors. Take responsibility for all aspects of site and premises security, assessing and implementing appropriate measures to ensure secure, safe access at all times. Ensure the Health and Safety Policy and local arrangements are consistently updated and applied. Participate in required Health and Safety training and obtain First Aid at Work certifications, as necessary.

Previous schools or broader education sector experience is required within a similar role, with someone who has the gravitas to support and influence colleagues, lead change and achieve results.
