We are currently seeking an Operations Manager to join our London team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of safety, exceptional customer service, and performance within the designated area of control. We're looking for someone who is dedicated to ensuring regular engagement is maintained with staff, nurturing their development and managing day-to-day occurrences. Customer relations are imperative to performing well in this role; the successful candidate will need to demonstrate exceptional stakeholder management skills, providing a robust service to internal and external customers alike. We are seeking a manager who is motivating, has excellent leadership skills, and ensures work is planned as efficiently as possible with the resources available. Due to the nature of operations, a flexible approach to working hours is required from the post holder. This will include a requirement to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. Participation in the regional on-call roster is also a requirement of the role. Closing Date: Monday 13th January Responsibilities
You will be responsible for producing and updating methods of work and risk assessments and undertaking audits and location checks in accordance with our schedules. Ensuring the yard and working environment is maintained in a safe and orderly state and reinforcing safety procedures to staff. Line management, development, and engagement. You must ensure any safety issues are dealt with swiftly and efficiently in accordance with railway regulations. Schedule the delivery of jobs to customers in accordance with the Long Term Planning and Short Term Planning teams to produce an optimal roster for train crew, taking cognizance of budgets and performance, including late notice cancellations or absence. Ensure shifts are fully manned and communicated to staff in a timely fashion, ensuring contingency plans are put in place in case of last-minute changes to the roster. Engagement, customer relations, and service. Review and maintain systems to monitor any wagon damage caused by loading/unloading. Ensure all equipment within the location(s) is maintained to minimum standards to enable reliable and continuous operation. Qualifications
Essential Criteria Line / Supervisory management experience. Previous operational experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A full UK driving licence. Desirable Skills ILM or other supervisory training programme. Formal assessor and verifier qualification (A1/L12, V1 Verifier or D132/33). Proven management and leadership skills. Incident investigation experience. Customer service experience. Disciplinary and investigation handling. Class 66 knowledge and relevant route and traction knowledge.
