The role will include being responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing specialist care and advice and will involve working in the day surgery unit and pre-operative assessment. The post holder will have the following responsibilities: Assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care. Ensure that agreed standards of nursing practice within the ward/department area are maintained. To ensure that all Trust, Divisional, and Ward/Department Health & Safety Policies are adhered to. To maintain personal contact with patients, other health care disciplines, relatives, and visitors. To mentor and support new staff and student nurses. To undertake appropriate enhanced roles, following the necessary training. To ensure safe custody and administration of drugs, in accordance with Trust Policy. Person Specification
Education and qualifications
Registered General Nurse with NMC qualification PARE Mentorship, teaching and assessing qualification Experience and knowledge
2 years nursing experience minimum in an acute hospital setting Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of the multi-disciplinary team Skills, abilities and competencies
Experience of working autonomously and within a multi-disciplinary team Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate Evidence of time management skills and ability to prioritise Courteous and Respectful Kind and Helpful Responsive Communication Effective and Professional Other
Friendly disposition and possess good written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of when to seek advice and refer to a registered care professional Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
