A very exciting opportunity has become available for a customer-focused Optical Assistant on a full-time, permanent basis. I am recruiting for a franchise of one of the UK’s most trusted optical brands. This would be working with a busy practice based in the New Forest.

This practice is situated on a high street and is a medium-sized practice with 3 test rooms and a large and loyal customer base. They have a very friendly and welcoming team in place, who all work for each other to deliver the highest levels of customer care.

You will be working in a busy store surrounded by a very supportive and close-knit team of around 20 strong who are willing to help and aid you in the right direction, as they are big on team building and work to provide an excellent customer experience.

Responsibilities of the Optical Assistant The role will entail dispensing spectacles to all levels, conducting pre-screen tests and contact lens teaches. You will also be required to carry out frame styling, adjustments, collections and give patients advice on best options. Reception duties and general admin will also be a part of the role and helping with the smooth running of the practice.

As an Optical Assistant within this practice, you will work on the shop floor in the dispensing team. You will be on hand to help junior members of the team with any difficult questions and general troubleshooting. As a member of the store's dispensing team, you will have a valued input.

Requirements of the Optical Assistant You will have a minimum of 12 months’ experience within optics and will be able to dispense to all levels. You should be able to work as part of a team and communicate well. We are looking for an ambitious, career-driven, enthusiastic person. As a member of the store's team, you will have a valued input with best practice and clinical compliance. What is most important is personality, attitude, and a good work ethic, as we are looking for friendly, upbeat people who can handle a customer-facing environment and take pride and ownership in the role.

Compensation for the Optical Assistant For your efforts, a competitive salary of up to £25,000 dependent on experience is on offer, along with a team-based bonus scheme and additional benefits such as 2 free glasses per year, progression into management or a more clinical route, plus 28 days holiday. You will also have the opportunity to receive some further training and join a professional team in a fun and relaxed environment.
