We are seeking an experienced

Optical Systems Engineer

to join a dynamic and growing team working with some of the most exciting players in the UK’s space industry. With a strong focus on advanced space sensors for exploration missions and space-based communication technology, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of space exploration. Key Responsibilities: Act as the technical interface to customers and subcontractors. Identify and define customer needs and derive engineering requirements. Develop and manage system budgets (e.g., power, mass). Design and analyse innovative engineering solutions, ensuring performance alignment. Supervise multidisciplinary engineering teams during design, integration, and testing phases. Plan and execute test campaigns, troubleshoot issues, and produce detailed test reports. Skills: Previous commercial experience in the design, manufacture, and testing of complex systems. Expertise in optics, optical sensors, and opto-mechanical assemblies. Proficient in formal configuration control methods and environmental testing standards. Familiar with ECSS standards and space-environment system design. Good knowledge of Python, Visual Basic, MATLAB, C, or C++. Hands-on experience in manufacturing, assembly, and testing. Why Join?
