Overview: Are you passionate about space technology and optical systems? We are looking for an experienced Optical Systems Engineer to join our innovative Systems Team. In this role, you will play a key part in developing and implementing satellite missions, leveraging your expertise in optical payloads to enhance the performance and capabilities of our products. You will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, collaborating with various teams to deliver innovative satellite solutions that meet customer needs. Key Responsibilities: Lead the technical management of our space missions, from requirements capture to concept definition, design, implementation, testing, and orbital operations support. Provide expertise in optical payloads, overseeing both programmatic and technical aspects of relevant work packages. Assess and optimize the image quality and performance of optical payloads, supporting AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Testing) and AIV (Assembly, Integration, and Verification) phases, including alignment and calibration. Work closely with stakeholders, including payload systems providers, bid and sales teams, and customers, to ensure solutions are delivered on time and meet specifications. Propose and implement improvements to enhance the performance of our satellite systems. What We're Looking For: Proven expertise in Earth observation, remote sensing, and optical design, with the ability to apply this knowledge to system designs. Strong understanding of image quality metrics such as MTF (Modulation Transfer Function), SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio), and resolution to manage image quality budgets effectively. Experience in planning and supporting AIT and AIV activities, including knowledge of optical systems manufacturing, characterization, and testing. Proficiency in mission analysis and system design, including managing requirements, using MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) tools, implementing FMECA (Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis), designing FDIR (Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery), managing system budgets, and defining CONOPs (Concept of Operations). Familiarity with satellite subsystems (power systems, on-board data handling, AOCS, communications, propulsion, mechanical, and thermal systems) and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams.
