The Post holder is required to hold an up to date BOA casting certificate and have experience and be competent in applying a wide range of casts, including gypsona, lightweight synthetic, and soft cast. Able to use a plaster saw for safe cast removal. Work closely with consultants and the team. Be able to apply braces and splints. You will be required to attend theatres and the wards to apply and remove casts as needed. Main duties of the job

Hold an up to date BOA casting certificate and have experience in applying a wide range of casts, including gypsona, lightweight synthetic, and soft cast. Able to use a plaster saw for safe cast removal and apply braces and splints. Act as a professional role model to junior staff and demonstrate leadership qualities. Provide expert clinical knowledge and skills within the department. Work with the department manager and nursing team to develop and promote best practice. Work within their own limitations and competencies. Maintain plaster room safety, including saws and equipment. Attend theatres and wards to apply and remove casts as needed. Facilitate and chaperone in clinics as required. About us

Qualifications and knowledge

BOA/RCN (SOTN) AOT Experience

Experience of working with children 0 - 16 Ponsetti experience. 2 years post qualification in an outpatient orthopaedic setting. Skills

Ability to work with all disciplines. Articulate with good communication skills, both written and oral. Precise and methodical in working practice. Work under own initiative. Good organisational skills. Demonstrate understanding of evidence-based practice and its implications. Able to accommodate the demands of the post with flexible working as required and good attendance. Personal and people development

Ability to self-reflect, carry out tasks of own job, and identify what s/he needs to learn to do current job better. Ability to take an active role in agreed learning activities and keep a record of them. Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm towards teaching and sharing knowledge.
