Job Title : Outside Special Process Supplier Quality Engineer

Reporting To : Manager, Regional Supplier Dev.

Work Schedule : Hybrid - Tewkesbury, GBR

Moog Aircraft Group is looking for an Outside Special Process Supplier Quality Engineer (OSP SQE). The primary focus for this position is technical special process auditing by identifying gaps between specification requirements and process implementation and to assess the effectiveness of corrective action.

The OSP SQE will spend most of their time conducting special process audits, facilitation of supplier special process audits, and assist in resolution of audit findings and observations, performing Special Process training.

The role involves travel 1-2 days a week to conduct supplier oversight and resolve performance problems.

Responsibilities Include Risk Assessment: Responsible for conducting Technical Special Process Supplier risk assessments and ensure closure or reduction of identified risks to the acceptable levels. Conduct Special Process assessments at supplier facilities assuring compliance with technical specification and contract requirements. Assign responsibility for corrective actions and monitor CA responses for timely response and effective root cause identification. Assist with understanding of findings and as applicable provide guidance with respect to corrective actions. Maintain and record assessment results. Assist in trending data and identifying systematic system compliance concerns. Operate and assist in maintaining the special process audit database in a manner to insure uninterrupted, reliable information. Develop and maintain knowledge of Special Processes and related specifications and procedures used at Moog. Provides support to Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Program Management and Production Control in order to meet contract requirements and business objectives. Problem Solving: Ensure effective problem solving/corrective action process at Suppliers using advanced problem-solving tools like 8D, 5 whys, and 6 Sigma that would drive improvements to delivered product Quality performance. Quality Audits: Will be responsible for Process and Product audits as required. Product Part Approval/ First Article Inspection Requirement: Ensure PPAP/ FAI process per Moog Requirements/AS 9102 is robust at Suppliers. Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP): Ensure effective Advance Product Quality Planning process for all new product launches to meet the set objectives, Quality, Delivery and Cost using tools like Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Inspection/Test Plan Key Characteristic (KC), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) & Process Capability Study.

Key Skills and Experience Audit background along with manufacturing and process Knowledge, Nondestructive Inspection (LPI/MPI), Heat Treatment, Welding, Brazing, Shot Peening, Painting, Chemical Conversion Coating, Passivation, HVOF, Numerous Plating and Coating. Sound understanding of the Quality Management Systems & APQP Tools. Ability to work with minimum supervision and an independent Quality mindset. A 4-year technical degree with 5 or more years of related experience or, as an alternative, an Associate degree and a minimum of 12 years related work experience. Strong communication skills. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of special processes like chemical processing, Non-destructive testing, Welding, Brazing, and heat treatment. Basic knowledge of GDT, hands on experience of Inspection on products and knowledge of CNC machining processes that include Turning, Milling, Grinding. Practical usage of advance Quality Tools, Problems solving and continuous improvement. Lean/Six Sigma/ASQ Certifications are desired. Must be an effective communicator in English. Clean driving licence and experience with MS Office is essential.
