He has a good sense of humour and he especially loves trips to the cinema and drawing in cafes.His speech is delayed so he communicates with a mixture of Makaton signs, visual resources and speech.The job would give him opportunities to enjoy his favourite activities both in and away from the home. Main Duties:v Communicate and support his time, activities and communicationv Accompany him in the local and his favourite placesv Interact with him using suitable means and methods, such as play and drawing, to make him happy and comfortableEssentialsv Calm and confident demeanourv Resilience; managing anxiety and some challenging behavioursv Receive training; including Makaton, Down Syndrome and Autismv Show initiative and flexibilityv Be sensitive to his needs and feelingsv Communicate well with family and provide feedback to parentsv Attend work punctually and consistentlyv Maintain confidentiality at all timesv Experience or desire working with children with additional needsv Use of own car would be favourable.Skills· To be able to work unsupervised · Good communication and listening skills · Show initiative · To be able to build self-esteem while ensuring a safe and warm atmosphere/ambiance · An interest in art and craft Motivation· To enjoy working with young people.OtherTo hold a current and satisfactory enhanced DBS check or be willing to complete one.
