£12.40 weekday & £15.44 weekend Job Purpose: To provide a safe level of care for my 23-year-old daughter who has a mild learning disability, autism, and can be overly friendly to others. She requires support from an adult to engage in leisure activities. A support worker would promote her independence in the community and help develop her confidence in using public transport. Activities may include practicing bus routes, attending the cinema, and going out for meals. She enjoys spending time with her friends, and gaining confidence may enable her to access bowling, cinema, and Zumba sessions independently. Main Duties: Develop social skills and promote independence. Take her on short outings in the community to provide stimulation and build confidence. Essentials: Show initiative and flexibility. Ensure she is supervised at all times in appropriate activities. Be sensitive to her needs and feelings. Communicate well with family and provide feedback to parents. Attend work punctually and consistently. Maintain confidentiality at all times. Skills: Ability to work unsupervised. Good communication and listening skills. Ability to make sound judgements and decisions. Manage stress and remain calm under pressure. Build self-esteem while ensuring a safe and secure environment. Motivation: Enjoy working with children and young people. Other Requirements: Complete relevant training as well as an enhanced DBS check and child protection check. In general, undertake all care work with the sensitivity required to provide services in a way that preserves the dignity, choice, independence, fulfillment, and rights of the child and their family.
