Packaging Technologist

Are you driven by a passion for sustainability and eager to make a difference? As a Packaging Technologist, you'll play a pivotal role in enhancing the sustainability of our packaging solutions across the world. You'll join our dedicated sustainability team working to ensure our packaging meets the highest environmental standards while maintaining quality and functionality. You'll lead projects improving the sustainability of our packaging across various products and materials. You'll coordinate and advise on packaging testing and trials, create and manage technical packaging specifications, and oversee the approval of packaging artwork and regulatory compliance. You’ll research sustainable packaging innovations and market trends which will help shape the future of our packaging and support our global teams, including M&D, Supply Chain, and our Product teams. You'll be responsible for leading and reporting on mandatory packaging legislation and associated data, managing relationships with external consultancies and agencies to support regulatory reporting globally. Maintaining a schedule of packaging improvement projects, you'll report against Specsavers Sustainability ESG strategy and 2030 targets, staying aware of environmental legislation and best practices across all regions. You'll have a related degree in Packaging Technology, Materials Science, Engineering, or Sustainability, along with technical packaging knowledge and an understanding of relevant legislation. Experience managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing tasks will be crucial. A passion for sustainability, strong analytical skills, and a creative mindset to support innovation are essential.
