Job summary

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exceptional opportunity for an Ultrasound Fellow in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. This one-year fellowship combines hands-on clinical experience in a purpose-built Paediatric Emergency Department (PED) at Sunderland Royal Hospital with a fully funded Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound at Teesside University.

The PED is a standalone, state-of-the-art facility serving approximately 29,000 children annually, with features including dedicated resuscitation bays, high-dependency beds, and a Children's Short Stay Assessment Unit. The post holder will split their time between clinical work (80%) and academic development (20%), gaining advanced skills in paediatric emergency care and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) applications.

Supported by a multidisciplinary team and the Sunderland Ultrasound Faculty, you will benefit from expert mentorship, hands-on ultrasound training, and opportunities to engage in research and quality improvement projects. This fellowship provides the ideal platform for clinicians eager to enhance their clinical and ultrasound expertise while working in a busy, patient-focused environment.
