Job Summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join our friendly, well-established Paediatric Epilepsy Team. This is a Band 7 role; however, we encourage applicants with experience and interest to apply for a Band 6 development post. There will be an upgrade to Band 7 upon completion of the Paediatric Epilepsy Module/course as defined in-house, following a period of consolidation and assessment of competence. This will be assessed by the Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist and line manager (Matron for Children's Services). We are offering a permanent position working up to 37.5 hours per week. The Paediatric Epilepsy Service has a strong multi-disciplinary team and welcomes enthusiastic and motivated nurses who are passionate about providing excellent care to children and their families. Our Clinical Nurse Specialists are an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team working together to deliver this specialist service, promoting treatment pathways that empower and support children and their families to manage their condition and help to minimize hospital admissions. You will be responsible for developing and working within evidence-based specialist pathways of care, guidelines, and protocols to support patients and their families to improve care delivery. We encourage applicants to arrange a visit and discuss the opportunity further. Main Duties of the Job

Work with children and their families/carers from diagnosis throughout their ongoing care and facilitate the transition to other services or adult care. Participate in clinical work and coordination of investigations and relevant tests. Make recommendations and identify areas for development, presenting these to the epilepsy consultants for discussion prior to implementation. Be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs of care, ensuring all activity is recorded as required. Use appropriate clinical judgement and autonomous decision-making, coordinating and managing the clinical caseload autonomously. Liaise and carry out community (home/school) visits for children and young people with epilepsy. Work as a member of the multidisciplinary/multi-agency team, ensuring close collaborative working with other departments/agencies to ensure holistic patient care.
