This role is across diverse settings - educational settings, clinics, and homes, managing a range of clinical presentations in speech, language, and communication.

We offer a Multi-Professional Preceptorship Programme to all newly registered practitioners. This is an opportunity to welcome you into your new teams and our Trust, providing support and guidance as you develop in confidence and competence whilst transitioning from student to autonomous professional.

Preceptorship for newly qualified colleagues (working towards RCSLT Core Goals) usually lasts 12 months, and you will be assigned a preceptor who will support, coach, mentor, and guide you through regular meetings. We offer a robust programme of supervision, support, and professional development for our Newly Qualified Practitioners in line with RCSLT (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists) guidance.

Main duties of the job

The role will be varied and offer the opportunity to work within clinic, education, and community environments. You will be responsible for assessment and treatment of children with a variety of speech, language, and communication difficulties and hold a delegated clinical caseload.

The role will cover the Scarborough, Whitby, and Ryedale areas.

You will be joining a well-established multidisciplinary team, with a strong commitment to ensuring children receive support to achieve the best outcomes that they can. We are passionate about delivering the very best evidenced practice, and we want you to bring your own ideas and innovative thinking to our team.

You will receive regular supervision and support from peers and senior clinicians within the team and will participate in the regular in-service training programme. This role provides an excellent development opportunity.

The ability to transport yourself and equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day is required for this vacancy. Access to a vehicle that can be used for business purposes and hold a full and valid driving licence (role will involve travel to numerous addresses that cannot be easily accessed by public transport means) is required.

Qualification

Essential

HCPC Registered Speech and Language Therapist Degree in Speech and Language Therapy

Desirable

Evidence of postgraduate training within speech and language therapy or a specialist area

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

Evidence of reflective practice from work experience or student placements. Evidence of robust knowledge base relevant to role that applies to the management of a range of conditions.

Desirable

NHS experience through placement and/or employment work. Knowledge of outcome measures to evaluate therapy.

Skills and Attributes

Essential

Ability to present information, written and verbally in a clear and logical manner. Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to organise and prioritise.

Desirable

Ability to use different communication methods and styles. Evidence of personal development.
