The Outpatient Department of The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital has undergone a major transformation programme to improve the patient experience for our patients. As part of this, we have created a full-time position for a band 5 paediatric nurse. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic paediatric nurse to join our team. As part of our professional, friendly and compassionate team, you will do everything you can to ensure the patient's treatment is of the highest standard. We are looking for someone to work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that our patients feel safe and welcomed into the department. As well as undertaking basic duties, you will function as a clinical practitioner, being responsible for the delivery of patient care and managing and organising a workload on a daily basis. In addition, you will be required to supervise junior staff and mentor nursing students. We encourage sharing of best practices across our site to develop your skills and take advantage of our excellent clinical leadership knowledge. The successful candidate will be joining a motivated team focused on providing a high standard of service to patients in a busy outpatient department. Candidates must be flexible, adaptable, and able to work both in a team and independently. The working hours of the department are Monday - Friday with a variety of shifts between 8am and 7pm. Main Duties of the Job

The candidate will be responsible for the setting up and running of clinics in the outpatient department. You will assist clinicians within the department, including chaperoning, pre-assessment, and complex wound dressings. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. You must also demonstrate good initiative. We are looking for someone who is friendly and welcoming to ensure that patients feel safe when coming into the department. Phlebotomy is desirable but not essential as training will be given. All staff are required to demonstrate a level of IT literacy skills appropriate to their job, as the use of IT is fundamental in delivering good quality efficient healthcare. About Us

Job Responsibilities

To provide the highest standard of individualized care to all patients in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team, acting as an advocate for the care and support for all patients throughout the outpatient department. To ensure the outpatient environment is welcoming to all patients, visitors, and staff using the facilities. To work closely with clinicians within the department across a range of specialist orthopaedic conditions. Educate patients and their families or carers, assessing their care needs and liaising with other departments within the Trust to facilitate the patients' individual treatment pathway. To carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision to the highest evidence-based standard. To act as the department's team leader on a rotational basis supervising Clinic Support Workers, Student Nurses & newly qualified Staff Nurses. Work closely with the Safeguarding teams and highlight concerns in a timely manner. Person Specification

Education & Professional Qualifications

First Level Paediatric Nurse Registration Evidence of recent and ongoing professional development Recognized teaching or mentorship qualification or working towards. Experience

Ability to plan and prioritise workload Proven communication skills and ability to negotiate Ability to supervise registered and unregistered staff Knowledge of risk management To maintain a safe clinical environment conducive to patient care. Personal Qualities & Attributes
