We are looking for a Palliative, End of Life Care and Bereavement Clinical Educator to join our small but incredible team. This unique post combines the delivery of a formal education programme with a clinical based coaching role. You will work within our team to deliver direct patient care alongside colleagues and role model/ facilitate excellent nursing practice. You will also develop and deliver on-going training and innovative education, in a flexible and evolving way, to staff working in the NCA to enable the consistent delivery of high standard, holistic and person-centred palliative, end of life and bereavement care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide Palliative, End of Life Care and Bereavement education and training to health care staff. This will include the delivery of clinical and formal training programmes alongside the Practice Development Team. Delivery of direct patient care alongside colleagues to role model and facilitate excellent nursing practice which incorporates clinical and enhanced skill development in palliative and end of life care.

The post holder will also participate in audit and evaluation of the training programme. They will assist the Practice Development Lead for Palliative and End of Life Care and the Specialist Palliative Care Team in the development and delivery of high standards of patient focused, evidenced-based end of life care across the Northern Care Alliance.

Deliver palliative, end of life care and bereavement training programmes to a variety of staff groups. Maintain a presence in the local clinical areas by delivering direct patient care alongside colleagues and role model and facilitate excellent nursing practice in a coaching role. Discuss with colleagues the assessment and care delivery process incorporating current practice, evidence base, future trends and developments in care, timeliness of interventions and related risks. Provide and receive complex or sensitive information where there are barriers to understanding.

Qualifications

Essential

RGN / 1st level registered nurse with current registration with NMC First degree in a health related subject or an equivalent portfolio of evidence Post basic qualification in palliative care or an equivalent portfolio of evidence

Desirable

Recognised teaching qualification or equivalent experience

Experience / skills

Essential

Experience in a senior role in a palliative / end of life care environment Effective communicator able to communicate complex and sensitive information
