Knights has always done things differently; in 2012, we were the first organisation of our type in the UK legal sector to attract private equity investment, enabling us to move from the traditional partnership model to a corporate structure, creating a clear separation between management / ownership and fee earners. The success of our model was reflected in very attractive growth over the following 6 years and since our listing on the AIM market in June 2018, we have reported year on year growth. With nearly 1500 colleagues across 26 locations and our strong organic growth, combined with a number of high-quality recent acquisitions means we are now a more diversified business with strengthened positions in our key target markets. We have the team and financial resources in place to deliver our organic and acquisitive growth strategy as we scale up to be the leading legal and professional services business outside London. Our business model and culture remain a clear differentiator from many legal services businesses enabling us to recruit individuals who wish to work in a modern professional services business. The Group's strong position in its markets, increased scale, national reputation, differentiated model and unique culture is enabling us to attract high quality talent. We are now looking to add to our highly successful Planning team based out of our Stoke office, in particular with a focus on mines and minerals work. The team works with mineral operators, developers, and landowners on planning and associated matters. They provide strategic advice on the best route to securing permission, including application procedures and content. Main Tasks: To assist with the opening of client matters manually and through various computer systems. To assist with the preparation and sending of quotes for legal work. To check and verify client identification. To send out client care documentation and to check incoming and outgoing documents for completeness and accuracy. To ensure compliance with the service standard requirements both internal and external in respect of all referred and introduced work, including keeping up to date with compliance issues by reading the Firm’s Practice Support Bulletins. To undertake any specific training when required and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development. To ensure the confidentiality of all the Firm’s and client’s documentation and information. To provide assistance with the processing of the Team’s matters by carrying out administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, and retrieval of clients files. To use the case management system to carry out tasks assigned by members of the teams including preparing documents, carrying out searches and reporting on the search results and carrying out procedures in accordance with the Firm’s manual. To assist in keeping the files on the case management system up to date, accurate and effective in ensuring that the system is proactive and complete. To answer and make telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner making full electronic telephone notes and progressing cases where possible or directed. To undertake all other reasonable tasks as may be required. What we are looking for: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate articulately with a broad range of individuals by email, telephone or face to face. Excellent time management skills and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a high volume environment. Confident in using a broad range of digital technologies and keen to embrace and support technological change. Ability to cope with changing levels of workloads. Ability to work effectively with others. Understanding the link between own/team performance and the overall success of the Firm. We offer a unique environment; you will be part of a one team culture that promotes direct responsibility with an expectation to always deliver the best service possible for clients within a collegiate, team-based environment. Most excitingly of all, you can help change the way we all think about and deliver the future of legal and professional services in a friendly, caring business, with little (if any) hierarchy. Our culture of positivity and transparency provides a great platform for the right people to take their careers to the next level. If you would like to make a positive difference to your career, get in touch with our Recruitment Advisor, Michael Appleby, for a highly confidential and informative discussion about why Knights is different. Michael can be contacted on 07805 819860 or by email at michael.appleby@knightsplc.com.
