Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer

This vacancy is: Part time Salary: £14.84 per hour Closing Date: Tuesday 21st January 2025 Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer Role West Bradford Parish Council has a vacancy for a conscientious and enthusiastic person to act as Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer. The postholder will support a small but active – and friendly - Parish Council in the heart of the Ribble Valley. Responsibilities The Parish Clerk is expected to service a total of 10 evening meetings per year. This will require agenda preparation; supporting the 5 parish councillors in their official role; and the production of minutes. A key aspect of the post is successful completion of the annual audit. Whilst no specific experience of local government is required, an understanding of basic accounting / budget holding would be beneficial. Other duties include: • updating the Parish Council website (support and training are available); • submitting consultation responses to planning applications; • responding to requests / queries from members of the public; and • undertaking payroll responsibilities for the post of Clerk. The successful candidate will work from home and – in exchange for a monthly allowance - be expected to provide their own ICT equipment. Good communication skills, ICT literacy and a hands-on approach to problem solving are essential. The typical monthly workload is around 20 hours, with Parish Council meetings held on the last Wednesday of each month (other than July and December, when no meeting takes place). The outgoing Clerk is willing to offer full introductory training in all aspects of the role prior to his departure (no later than March 2025). The salary will commence at SCP 14 (£14.84 per hour, subject to annual increase) on the Local Government Pay Agreement, and – subject to satisfactory performance – will rise by 1 increment per year. This is an exciting opportunity to play an important community role at the heart of village life. For further discussion, or to register an interest,

please contact the current Clerk by 21 January 2025. Ribble Valley Borough Council is an equal opportunities employer.
