Our multi-disciplinary urban design and commercial architecture team are looking for a newly qualified Part III architect or experienced Part II to assist with our masterplanning, housing and commercial design services. We collaborate with legacy clients who prioritize long-term investment in placemaking and sustainable urban environments. As a growing team, we offer great opportunities for progression for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

As a key member of the urban design team, candidates will play a pivotal role in guiding projects from strategic development through to detailed design, with a particular focus on the architectural elements of larger urban schemes. They will produce coordinated designs for RIBA Stage 3, ensuring projects seamlessly transition from planning to detailed design and construction. With a strong emphasis on placemaking, candidates will work on diverse public buildings, including schools, nurseries, commercial and retail units, community facilities, and residential and specialist housing. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with members of the wider Urbanism team as well as manage small teams and operate independently.

Candidate Requirements:

Ability to design by hand and on computer. Experience of operating ArchiCAD is an advantage but not essential as training is provided. No prior experience of traditional or classical architecture is necessary provided individuals have a passion for the traditional and contextual urbanism we promote. Strong interest or experience in urban scale projects up to stage three. Good drawing and presentation skills. Strong design ability coupled with an eye for detail. Awareness of technical standards, regulatory frameworks, and health and safety requirements. Well organized, with good time management skills proficient at working on a varied portfolio of work and meeting all deadlines. Good people skills, comfortable working independently or as part of a team. Good communication skills.

About Us:

We are a leading practitioner of traditional and progressive classical architecture and contextual urbanism in Europe. We are operated by an Executive Board of eight members, six of whom are Design Directors leading their own projects with their own design ethos, while all working together as experts in the field of Classical and Traditional architecture. With studios across the UK, the portfolio of projects covers a range of houses and buildings including new town and country houses, conversions, renovations and extensions, largely for private owners, historic buildings such as monuments, protected and Listed buildings, commercial and institutional buildings such as hotels, healthcare and office buildings, residential developments, masterplans and new urban designs ranging in size from small village extensions to major new developments.
