Responsibilities in your new role as the Payroll Clerk In this role you will manage the full payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payments, including salaries, overtime, bonuses, statutory deductions, and pensions. You'll also handle starters, leavers, P45s/P46s, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.), while maintaining GDPR-compliant payroll records. Submitting all required HMRC updates, FPS, and year-end returns is key, along with managing auto-enrolment pension contributions.

Your personality, experience and qualifications We’re looking for a payroll professional with at least 3 years of hands-on experience, strong knowledge of PAYE, NIC, RTI, and auto-enrolment processes, and proficiency in computerised payroll systems—experience with SAGE Payroll is a plus. You’ll need solid technical skills in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with an up-to-date understanding of HMRC legislation, including statutory payments and tax rates. A CIPP qualification is desirable but not essential.
