£1900 - £2200 per month Veritas Education is working with a small primary school looking to hire a teaching assistant to work 1:1 and as classroom support from the beginning of the spring term. Your role would involve working with students on a 1:1 basis and in the classroom on a part-time contract every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The successful teaching assistant will work in a separate classroom with students who need additional support with accessing learning during lessons. Experience as a teaching assistant would be preferable but not essential. As a teaching assistant, you will work closely with parents, carers, and families as a part of the wider community. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A TEACHING ASSISTANT 1:1 Teaching Assistant Support for Pupils: Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils Teaching Assistant Support for Teachers: Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly, and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans, and assist with the display of pupils' work Use strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals Discuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organized and what their own support role will be Qualifications needed as a Teaching Assistant: Essential: Good literacy skills - GCSE Grade C or above in English Language; Level 2 English or above; or equivalent Good numeracy skills - GCSE Grade C or above in Maths; Level 2 Maths or above; or equivalent Desirable for a teaching assistant: An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent If you would like to be considered for this teaching assistant opportunity, please send your application, and if successful, we will contact you with full information about the role and the school.
