The Client
My client is a specialist in Hydrographic, Land, Marine and Engineering Surveys, well-established and a market leader in delivering precise and accurate dimensional data of both constructed and natural surroundings, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and advanced techniques. They currently have opportunities for experienced Party Chiefs to join their expanding team.
The Role
As Party Chief, you will oversee and manage a multi-disciplinary team and associated systems to ensure alignment with contractual obligations. Acting as the central point of contact, you will liaise effectively with Client Representatives, Project Managers, and offshore teams, making strong communication skills essential. This role requires a proactive and driven individual who can manage and prioritize a dynamic and diverse workload efficiently. While offshore, you will collaborate closely with the team of Engineers and Surveyors to ensure the project's seamless execution. Regular communication with Client Representatives, Project Managers, and onshore teams will also be required.
Responsibilities include:
Planning and overseeing survey activities, preparing daily reports, and ensuring that project deliverables from the worksite are quality-controlled and aligned with contractual requirements while ensuring operational efficiency. Maintaining clear and consistent communication with Client Representatives, the Project Manager, and both onshore and offshore teams. Developing and updating documented operational procedures and work instructions, as well as preparing thorough handover notes and project debrief reports. Coordinating and leading project briefings, daily meetings, and safety meetings as necessary. Ensuring the integrity and functionality of the survey spread, verifying resource suitability, and reporting any deficiencies through proper channels. Managing the implementation of worksite or organizational initiatives and campaigns, fostering active engagement from all personnel. Supervising and managing offshore staff effectively.
Key Requirements:
A degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline such as survey, engineering, or geoscience, OR comparable vocational qualifications and experience. At least 600 operational days of offshore construction survey experience. Previous offshore experience across diverse survey projects, with a willingness to work offshore for #removed# days per year. A commitment to contributing to a culture that prioritizes safe survey practices. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address challenges in survey operations effectively. A proactive approach and a positive, 'can-do' attitude. Familiarity with client deliverables and the processes required to achieve them. Experience in a supervisory or senior role in offshore operations. Proficient in computer use, including the ability to produce detailed reports. Skilled in planning and overseeing survey operations, managing personnel, and communicating effectively with offshore, onshore, and client teams. Demonstrated capability to foster a safety-focused and quality-driven culture within the offshore team. Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities. Self-disciplined, motivated, flexible, and a reliable team player. Willingness to work flexible hours, travel as needed, and undertake offshore assignments for up to 4 weeks. Residing within a reasonable distance of a major UK airport.
