About the role Permanent - Term Time only - 30 hours per week, days to be confirmed. Teaching Personnel are working with one of our partner secondary schools who are seeking a Pastoral Manager. The Pastoral Manager will work under the leadership of the Vice Principal for Pastoral. The successful person will play a vital role in contributing to the culture, ethos, and wellbeing of the whole Academy, by supporting the welfare of their students. This includes working with them to improve their mental health and wellbeing, their behaviour choices, and their physical health. The successful candidate will work closely with families to provide behaviour interventions and support to improve student behaviour and remove student barriers to learning. Main Duties and Responsibilities Assist in delivering the academy behaviour policy. Monitor student behaviour and make the necessary interventions when appropriate in the moment. Deliver interventions 1:1 or small group. Work with other agencies that support individual students. Promote inclusion and acceptance of students. Motivate students to promote and reinforce self-esteem. Participate in the induction of students at the start of the year and in year as necessary. Support in the 'Refocus' room. Participate in the comprehensive assessment of students to determine those in need of help. Participate in producing an action plan with students, parents, and teachers. Respond to staff requests for behavioural support in lessons advising on strategies, providing in-class observation, removing students, and supervising as necessary. Liaise with teachers to ensure that students who may from time to time be withdrawn from lessons are reintegrated as smoothly and as soon as possible. Evaluate the progress made by individuals and or groups of students. Provide information to parents and keep accurate records of meetings with students with agreed outcomes. Contact parents or carers regularly to discuss issues and to keep accurate records of the outcomes. Liaise with outside agencies as appropriate. Represent the Academy at meetings involving other agencies. Follow and promote all aspects of the Academy Behavioural Management system. Participate in the Academies detention system and follow up non-attendances where necessary. Be aware and comply with the policies and procedures on child protection, confidentiality, attendance, health and safety, and data protection. Manage the Refocus room on a rota with other staff. Take a first aid course. Medical attendance duties. Ideal Candidate GCSE in English, Maths, others or equivalent qualifications. Relevant work experience of supporting students in an educational/pastoral setting. Qualification relating to the role would be desirable. Enthusiastic, hardworking, and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting young people. Adaptability to new situations as they arise and the ability to form strong professional relationships with others. The ability to interpret student progress data. Knowledge of child protection procedures, safeguarding, and the Trust's policies and procedures. Awareness of the importance of health and safety and the importance of students' wellbeing. Experience in using Bromcom and a good level of ICT skills would be desirable.
