As soon as possible About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for the right person to join us as a Pastoral and De-escalation mentor. This role will involve primarily supporting KS3 and 4 pupils who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education to access learning. The successful candidate will work day-to-day as a mentor for a form group of pupils, becoming one of their key adults. You will support the pupils both academically and emotionally, using strong relationships to ensure they attend lessons, engage, interact respectfully, approach situations with an open mind, and use their time productively. Everyone at Highfields believes in the fundamental worth of each student, providing a variety of opportunities for academic development while nurturing personal growth (self-awareness, social skills, citizenship, and character) in a safe and upbeat environment with small groups and experienced staff. A key feature for successful candidates is the ability to empathize with students facing social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties and to work positively in a challenging environment. Application Process:
Application forms and an information pack are available for download. Completed forms should be submitted via email to: susan.ryan@highfieldscollege.org.uk. This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant's appointment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment clearances, including a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
