We are looking for a Pathway Team Lead - Physiotherapy who has advanced knowledge and experience in orthopaedic/musculoskeletal services to join our leadership team within Tyneside Integrated Musculoskeletal Service (TIMS).

TIMS is a collaboration between Gateshead Foundation Trust and Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that aims to empower the people of Newcastle and Gateshead to optimise their health and wellbeing through a seamless, high quality, person centred msk and pain service.

The post will allow the successful candidate to develop their existing leadership skills in a forward thinking dynamic service which is integrated across primary and secondary care services in Gateshead and Newcastle.

This is a permanent, full time position to work alongside TIMS pathway team leads and support the service Operational Manager.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will take on a team lead role as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive service for patients with musculoskeletal and persistent pain conditions in clinical settings across Gateshead and Newcastle. They will maintain a clinical caseload whilst providing day to day leadership for the team, acting as a source of expertise within the pathway and be expected to contribute to service evaluation and development.

You will be required to have a degree or equivalent qualification in Physiotherapy, State registered with Health and Care Professions Council and hold or be willing to work towards Masters level qualification. You will have extensive post graduate experience in the area with experience leadership and of integrating evidence based guidelines into clinical practice. Also, evidence of ongoing accredited CPD in a specialist area including relevant post graduate courses.

Job responsibilities

Provide the day-to-day management of our Lower Limb pathway team in TIMS to ensure a high standard of physiotherapy is provided by the team. Provide a high standard of physiotherapy care to a complex patient group referred to TIMS. Lead the clinical pathway team delivering a high standard of service to patients referred to TIMS with Lower Limb conditions. Carry a clinical caseload of complex patients within the speciality using skills to aid diagnosis and development of treatment plans e.g. ordering x-rays, administering injection therapy. Responsible for your own continued professional development and to develop and facilitate a learning culture within the team ensuring equal opportunities for each team member.

Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first months pay.
