Greet patients, doctors and visitors at Reception in a polite and friendly manner. Answer the telephone promptly and courteously. Make appointments using the computerised appointments system. Administer the procedure for repeat prescriptions. Open and sort all Medical Centre post, both internal and external. Ensure the smooth running of all surgeries and clinics. Arrange hospital appointments where relevant e.g. x-rays, out-patients. Receive patients' specimens ready for pathology laboratory collection. Deal with general enquiries from patients and visitors in a helpful and efficient manner. Collate and sort paperwork from GPs and other Practice staff, and deal with accordingly. Inform patients of computerised test results, in person, on the telephone or by letter. Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues. About us

Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner. Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times. Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations. Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to "think on your feet".
