Patient & Public Involvement Lead – PMOA

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a PMOA Patient and Public Involvement Lead. We are looking for someone who is dedicated to embedding our service users' and carer's voices in all that we do. You will be working as part of the PMOA Senior Leadership Team, across the directorate which covers four boroughs (Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Croydon), National & Specialist service including Crisis, Inpatients, Community and Outpatients departments. This role includes some evening and weekend working on occasions to develop and support accessible events. The PMOA directorate is a supportive team and one of which you will be a valued and essential member of.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated and dynamic individual, but most importantly someone with a passion to ensure our young people and carers are at the centre of what we do, that their voices are not only heard but are an integral part of our day to day working, developing services and supporting our teams to provide outstanding care. The role requires strong compassionate leadership, working closely with staff, young people and families/ carers.

There will be strong connections with our service PPI leads and trust PPI leads, ensuring CAMHS PPI involvement is represented in trust wide events and developments.

About the location:

This role includes travelling between sites. Preference for location will be discussed at interview but there is an expectation that you are expected to travel between sites including non trust community sites.

Person Specification

Education & Qualification

Essential Educated to masters standard or equivalent Evidence of ongoing professional development

Desirable Postgraduate qualification relevant to leadership role in involvement and engagement.

Experience

Essential Experience of developing and supporting implementation of Equality and diversity strategies Senior clinical and/or managerial experience which demonstrates the ability to initiate, develop and implement significant programmes of work without close supervision Experience of service development/project management in the NHS in relation to service user involvement or co-production Experience of partnership working across statutory and voluntary organisations Experience of managing resources, in particular budgetary responsibilities and proactively seeking out funding opportunities.

Desirable Experience of working with people with a broad range and severity of different mental health conditions.

Knowledge

Essential Understanding of the Patient and Carer Race and Equality Framework and able to evidence examples of implementing these standards in practice. Understanding of the Triangle of Care Model and its principles and able to evidence examples of implementing these standards in practice. Knowledge of national policy as it relates to mental health, equality and diversity and service user/carer involvement Understanding of the 4Pi National Involvement Standards Framework and able to evidence examples of implementing these standards in practice.

Skills

Essential Ability to lead and manage change through influence and relationship management without direct authority or line management of staff involved. Ability to manage the co-production, development and delivery of training packages / involvement opportunities with service users and carers to enable them to work alongside Directorate staff. Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to adapt to differing needs. Sound knowledge and ability to extract and analyse data to inform patient experience, involvement and engagement.

Desirable Sound technical and creative skills and ability to use video, social media or other mediums to promote inclusion and engagement activities.
