Patient Safety Lead for Obstetrics and Gynaecology

*Please note this post will be closed early once a sufficient amount of applications have been received* Promote a safety and quality culture across the directorates of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, (Womens and Children's), taking a lead in supporting local investigations and responses to incidents in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Responsible for leading the maternity patient safety agenda and ensuring a unified approach to the review of patient safety incidents across the service, in line with the Trust Policies & Procedures and best practice guidance. Oversee effective delivery of the directorate complaints and legal processes working through patient safety coordinators for Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Lead on the patient safety processes for the directorate to develop, maintain and monitor its process. To coordinate and lead the team to provide reports and summaries from national recommendations, and action plans for the directorate and associated meetings within the Trust. Main duties of the job

Support the integration of the requirements of external reporting. Encourage a research-conscious workforce to increase the use of evidence-based practices within the directorates. Promote effective communication between all areas of the directorate and across other associated directorates. Collate and analyse information and provide detailed reports to the Directorate Forums, including the Clinical Directors, Operational Manager, and Associate Director of Midwifery. Deputise for the Safety, Quality and Governance Lead when needed. Provide Lead support for the Paediatrics Patient Safety Team when needed. Be regularly visible/present in clinical areas, encouraging interaction with all groups of staff and gathering 'soft' data to enable triangulation of data and establish effective working relationships. Act as a focal point for incident reporting within Maternity and encourage all staff to make use of the In-phase reporting system and share resulting good practice and lessons learned. Lead the Patient Safety Team to work within the requirements of patient safety incident response framework (PSIRF) within Maternity, working alongside the Trust Patient Safety Team. About us

Qualifications and Training

Degree in related subject (Leadership/ Patient Safety / Midwifery). Experience

Clinical knowledge and experience in review of clinical events within maternity and gynaecology. Management experience. Experience of teaching. Experience in change management & PSIRF Training. Skills and Attributes

IT literate with at least basic word and Excel skills. Effective reasoning skills and ability to combine complex information to identify and analyse trends and issues and formulate policy and guidance. Presentation skills. Microsoft Office/publisher/Internet Policy Writing. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
