Main duties of the job

Patient Safety Partner

We are looking for two Patient Safety Partners to sit on our patient safety committees and ensure decisions are considered from a patient/service user perspective. The ideal person will have a passion for Patient Safety and a willingness to consider issues from various perspectives that may be different from their own perspective. They will also have a willingness to represent the voice of a wide range of service users including children & Young people, their parents, People with Learning disabilities & Autism, to mention but a few.

This is a great opportunity to shape the patient safety strategy for Croydon Health Services by bringing the patient voice to what we do.

Some examples of what you might be involved in include:

Attendance at relevant Quality & Safety Committees to contribute and support compliance monitoring and continuous improvement. Acting as an adviser/critical friend to the Patient Safety Team & relevant Committees in the development & delivery of the Patient Safety Strategy. Putting forward views on behalf of the wider Community/Groups of patients (not own opinion only). Evaluating a range of information and evidence and communicating with senior leaders about strategic issues, as an advocate for patient safety. Championing Quality & Safety Improvements to support the trust in implementation of the relevant strategy & policy.

In turn we will reimburse your expenses, provide relevant training and offer one-to-one support.

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provides hospital and community services from a number of community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon.

These include: Croydon University Hospital Purley Hospital The Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre in Thornton Heath Community bases at Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodside A minor injuries unit in New Addington

The Trust was formed on 1st August 2010 through the integration of Croydon Community Health Services and Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust. Around 3,500 staff provide services for a population of over 360,000 people who are relatively young with a high level of ethnic diversity.

Essential criteria Lives in the Borough of Croydon Aged over 18 years Commitment to over 7.5 hours per month Desirable criteria Able to commit to volunteer for 4 hours per week for at least 6 months
