This is a hybrid role working 3 days in the office (City of London location) and 2 days working from home.
Role Purpose:
The payments manager is responsible for establishing and leading the bank's central payment function.
This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient, secure, and compliant management of payment processes.
Acting as the bank's central subject matter expert, the Payments Manager will collaborate with the business to adopt best practices, enhance operational effectiveness, and address payment-related issues.
The role also includes ownership of the bank's payment processes, monitoring of the key controls that operate within them, and key reporting to the bank's relevant committees.
Responsibilities:
Challenge and improve the bank's payment strategy, ensuring it aligns with the bank's overall goals, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
Lead the central payments team to oversee payment activity within the bank.
Responsible for the bank's payment operations and key controls.
Review, identify, and implement payment solutions to improve efficiency and customer delivery.
Ownership of the bank's important business services relating to those aspects of the payment process for which they are responsible, including appropriate workarounds, recovery plans, and testing.
Establish appropriate governance frameworks, policies, and controls to support efficient and safe payment operations.
Go-to expert and SME for payment processes, systems, and regulation.
Manage third-party relationships with correspondent banks, payment processors, and technology providers.
Lead investigations into payment incidents, frauds, and other issues, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues promptly.
Provide payment reporting to key committees, including insights on payment control performance.
Ensure that daily payment operational processes are carried out, including payment release, daily cash flow, and reconciliation.
Arrange and maintain access rights for all payment systems.
Skills and Experience sought:
An understanding of payments schemes (BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments, Cheque clearing, and SWIFT).
Familiarity with regulatory payment frameworks, such as PSD2.
Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
Banking Systems (Including Online Banking) knowledge of Aurius is preferred but not essential.
Experience in managing payment teams within the financial services sector.
Demonstrated success in designing and implementing payment strategies.
Experience in managing critical third-party relationships, including correspondent banks and payment providers.
