We are recruiting for a Payroll Assistant to join a leading manufacturing company based in Irvine on a part-time permanent basis. This role is working Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 8 am-5 pm based onsite in Irvine offering a pro rata salary of £25-30k (£12-14.40 per hour) plus excellent benefits.

As Payroll Assistant, you will be part of a finance team of 7, looking after the weekly payroll for 300 staff using the Sage payroll system. Your main duties would include: Administer Weekly Payroll, completing from start to end, ensuring that all employees are paid on time and correctly. Accurately input and process all relevant data required for Payroll, including salaries, overtime/shift/call-out payments, bonuses, benefit deductions, voluntary deductions, maternity/paternity allowances, and sickness. Process and submit weekly payrolls including statutory year-end returns and P60s. Send all P45s/P46s to Revenue and Customs for all starters and leavers. Process all leavers ensuring any relevant final payments or deductions are actioned followed by the issue of P45. Update all statutory payments as appropriate i.e. SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP. Action any deductions from earnings attachments. Maintain records on payroll systems for employee holidays ensuring all authorised holidays are recorded and paid accurately. Ensure all FPS/HMRC updates are submitted within set timescales. Manage all pension submissions to the company pension scheme and action any changes. Action required changes and updates to Employee Tax Coding as per instruction from HMRC.

We are really keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience: Strong payroll background is required. Experience of using SAGE is advantageous; however, extensive experience of a computerised payroll system is essential. Knowledge of Revenue and Customs’ current legislation e.g. NI rates, statutory payments, etc. Strong MS Outlook, Excel, and Word skills are essential. Flexibility with hours and peak periods of work is essential. CIPP qualification desirable. Practical payroll experience – ability to explain PAYE and calculations. RTI and auto-enrolment exposure.
