A fantastic opportunity has become available working for a large leading Distribution Company in the North West. The Company is looking for an experienced, tenacious Payroll Assistant to join their busy team to carry out end-to-end Payroll. As a Payroll Assistant, you will have a keen eye for detail, plan your own workload, and flexibility is paramount. This is a busy, fast-paced role working to strict deadlines, requiring you to work well within the team and have the confidence to make decisions. You must be computer literate and a confident Excel user, with the ability to process a large payroll from start to finish. The ideal Payroll Assistant will have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience and must be QBE or hold AAT qualifications. Responsibilities: Process weekly and monthly payrolls from start to finish, including: Processing leavers and holiday pay Contractor/sub-contractor payments Calculating the payroll and running the payslips Checking the payslips and running the relevant reports P45s, P60s, P11s, tax implications, and all government deductions HMRC submissions and tax Completing the payroll journal and monthly reconciliation Providing cover for other payrolls Preparing depot staff costs budgets each year Processing holiday forms and payroll amendments Scanning and attaching documents into the payroll system Assisting with processing pensions for the group Answering the phone and dealing with wage queries Requirements: Payroll knowledge is a must, along with proficiency in Word and Excel. Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion at all times. Ability to prioritize own workload and meet deadlines. Able to work under pressure using own initiative. Excellent communicator with a good sense of humor - Team fit is KEY!
