Payroll Manager – Resources - Human Resources
Salary: Grade 16 (£58,692 - £60,819)
Permanent – 36 hours per week
Hybrid working
We are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Payroll Manager to lead the payroll team in delivering an excellent proactive service. You will manage the performance of a team and foster a culture of improvement and best practice that inspires staff to give their best in their roles.
Main Responsibilities:
Managing the day-to-day operations of the Council's payroll service.
Leading in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the service.
Essential Requirements
The Payroll Manager will need to have the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management or equivalent.
Leading and managing a team, working to tight deadlines and resolving conflicting issues.
Exceptional communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of UK payroll legislation and systems, particularly Oracle Fusion.
Knowledge of industry best practices and promoting different ways of working.
Ability to interpret complex regulations and legislation in a payroll context, including public sector pension schemes.
Systems-oriented, comfortable with computerized payroll systems and proficient in the use of MS Office applications.
Ability to interpret and draw conclusions from a range of complex statistical and financial information, with attention to detail, and report this in a variety of formats for a wide, varied audience.
Strong analytical and process design skills.
Ability to plan, manage, and monitor work programmes, organizing own and team’s workload, maintaining high-quality delivery, and achieving set deadlines and targets.
Setting performance standards and monitoring systems, contributing to longer-term strategic planning.
Demonstrating a high standard of ethical and personal conduct.
