Payroll Manager , initially on a 6 month contract with a view of going permanent. This is a pivotal role within the company's head office, offering the opportunity to lead and optimise payroll operations for a workforce of approximately 500 employees. This position is perfect for an experienced payroll professional with a passion for precision, compliance, and delivering outstanding service. Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end payroll process for weekly, monthly, and 4-weekly payroll cycles, ensuring compliance with legislation and company policies. Oversee the implementation of a new payroll system, ensuring smooth integration with existing business processes. Act as the primary contact for all payroll-related queries and manage the holiday pay process for employees. Coordinate with HR and Finance teams to streamline payroll, benefits, and reporting functions. Provide detailed analysis and reporting on payroll costs, trends, and anomalies to senior management, including insights into loss-making scenarios such as overpayments or suspension pay. Ensure accurate and timely submission of statutory payments, including PAYE, NI, pensions, and other deductions. Manage payroll audits, ensuring documentation is maintained for compliance purposes. Stay informed of changes in payroll legislation to ensure continued compliance. About You Proven experience in payroll management, ideally managing multi-entity payroll processes. In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation, with an understanding of GDPR and international considerations being a plus. Proficient in payroll software and advanced Excel, with the ability to handle complex reporting. Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Confident problem-solver, capable of managing complex payroll queries. Excellent communicator with the ability to engage effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders. Previous experience in leading a team and fostering a collaborative work environment.
