Assistant Accounting Administrative Manager - Payroll Specialist

Administration Department (Classification 031) Classified Full Time Position (37.5 hours/week) We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and providing exceptional support to employees regarding timecards and leave accrual inquiries. The Payroll Specialist will also play a vital role in supporting the Health Services Administration team, focusing on payroll for the Department of Health Services. Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and policies. Assist employees with questions related to timecards, leave accruals, and balances. Review and verify employee timesheets for accuracy, including confirming available leave accruals. Communicate with employees and supervisors to resolve issues related to leave balances and accruals. Ensure the accurate entry of timesheet data into the payroll system. Provide administrative and payroll support to the Health Services Administration team. Minimum Requirements: Associate’s degree in business administration, accounting, health administration, or related field is preferred. Four years of payroll-related experience or any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the work described. Proficient and demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office products, standard accounting computer software, with extensive knowledge of Excel and Databases, and standard office equipment. Ability to keep records and prepare reports and analytical findings; ability to perform complex assignments with minimal supervision; ability to evaluate data and to prepare clear and concise reports; ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees and with the public. Proficient organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
