Finance Director Job Overview The

Payroll Specialist

will be responsible for

end-to-end payroll processing , ensuring

timely, accurate, and fully compliant payroll operations . This role requires strong attention to detail,

expertise in UK payroll legislation , and the ability to work in a

fast-paced, multi-shift healthcare environment . You will play a crucial role in managing

payroll queries, pensions, HMRC submissions, and compliance , while working closely with

HR, Finance, and Operations teams

to maintain smooth payroll operations. Key Responsibilities Payroll Processing & Compliance: Process

monthly payroll

for

a multi-location workforce , including

hourly, salaried, and shift-based employees

via

OneTouch .

Ensure

accurate calculations

of

wages, overtime, shift allowances, statutory sick pay (SSP), maternity/paternity pay (SMP/SPP), and holiday pay .

Process

starters, leavers, and contractual changes

while ensuring proper documentation.

Administer

PAYE, National Insurance, and pension contributions

in line with

auto-enrolment regulations .

Ensure

full compliance

with UK employment legislation, including

National Minimum Wage (NMW), Working Time Regulations, and HMRC guidelines .

Prepare and process

year-end payroll reports , including

P60s, P45s, P11Ds, and statutory filings .

Support payroll audits

and ensure internal controls are met.

Assist HR with

employee benefits administration

(e.g., pensions, salary sacrifice schemes, etc.).

Ad-hoc

HR/payroll duties

as required.

Time & Attendance Management: Work with

HR and operational teams

to verify

timesheets and shift records .

Investigate and

resolve payroll discrepancies

to ensure accurate payments.

Employee Support & Payroll Reporting: Act as the

first point of contact for payroll-related queries , including payslips, tax codes, deductions, and pension contributions.

Provide

guidance on payroll processes

and

statutory entitlements

to employees.

Generate

payroll reports

for finance and HR teams to support financial planning and decision-making.

Support HR in maintaining

accurate employee payroll records .

Qualifications & Skills Essential: Minimum

3 years’ experience in payroll processing , preferably within

the healthcare or social care sector . Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation , including

HMRC regulations, tax codes, pensions auto-enrolment, and statutory payments . Proficiency in

payroll software

(e.g.,

Sage Payroll, BrightPay ) and

Microsoft Excel . High level of accuracy and attention to detail , with strong problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills , with the ability to handle sensitive payroll matters confidentially. Ability to work independently , manage deadlines, and take full

ownership of payroll operations . Desirable: Experience in a

fast-paced, multi-shift healthcare environment . Familiarity with
