Job offered by: STAGECOACH GROUP PLC
·
Category: IT & Technology
Salary Circa £44k per annum - 40hrs per week. Mix of early, middle and late shifts on a rolling shift. Would you love to be part of a professional Engineering Team that maintains and repairs a modern and varied fleet of vehicles? How about developing your own technical skills on future hybrid and electric vehicles, all whilst mentoring our keen-to-learn apprentices to pass on your existing knowledge? If that sounds like something you want to be involved in, we'd love to have you on board—and we'll give you all the training and development you need to get to where you want to go! Stagecoach South operates 500 vehicles over eight sites and our Basingstoke team are looking for people from a background in vehicle mechanical engineering to be part of our growing team. You may be in a truck/HGV, rail, light commercial or automotive setting at the moment, but fancy a change of vehicle to enhance your skill-set. Essential NVQ Level 3 Engineering in HGV or PSV Must have held a car licence for at least one year and no more than a maximum of six penalty points Desirable PCV license and CPC training are an advantage but not essential (opportunities to gain free driving qualifications through the company) PCV experience and/or HGV experience Our Basingstoke depot operates a varied range of vehicles from minibuses up to double deck buses on a daily basis. We operate Alexander Dennis, Scania, Volvo and Optare vehicles to name a few, and we invest millions in new buses so you'll have some state-of-the-art machines to work on! Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out - and as part of our Engineering Team you'll be a key part in making sure our vehicles are in tip-top condition to do just that. It's a really important role within our Depot, so we'll make sure you're as looked after as our vehicles are! Don't worry if you've not worked on buses before, we'll train you on everything you need to know, and you'll be supported by a great team of fellow Mechanics, Electricians, Technicians and Engineering Managers who all pull together to do a brilliant job. And interestingly it's not all depot-based work - you could well find yourself out and about dealing with vehicle issues on the road, so it won't always be the same four walls you're looking at. Aside from the reward of helping to deliver an incredible experience to our customers, there's plenty more we can offer: Job Security:

We've been going since 1980, we turn over £1.3bn and we're not planning on hanging our boots up anytime soon! Safe Environment:

We provide boots, overalls and specialist equipment so no need to worry about being safe and protected, or having the right kit for the job. Free Travel:

For you and your companion on our buses. That means on your days off you can be off shopping for free without worrying about parking the car, or heading off for a day in the city without paying a fortune in petrol or train fares! Great Income & Benefits:

Competitive rates of pay, plus a good pension scheme to look after you after you've hung up the spanner or multimeter! Promotions:

If you're happy sticking as a Mechanic then that's absolutely fine by us, but if you do want to progress we'll support you every step of the way. You will be given exposure to work which will develop your skills and experience to allow you to progress your career further. The vast majority of our Engineering Managers and Directors are home-grown talent - so that could very well be you in the not too distant future. So, if you have an engineering background with a vehicular slant (truck, haulage, automotive, plant, rail, farm - if it moves, it's good experience for working on our buses) and have a passion for great work with a great team, then we can't wait to receive your application! Stagecoach workplace culture is one where everyone can be themselves and where all the differences our people bring to the business are celebrated. We welcome applications from all, irrespective of background, gender, ethnicity, race, religion, beliefs, disability, neurodiversity, sexual orientation or age. Location: Stagecoach Basingstoke Rankine Road Basingstoke RG24 8PH
