16th December 2024 The Rosalind Franklin Institute is a national interdisciplinary research centre, funded by the UK government through UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). We are dedicated to creating new disruptive technologies which will allow us to see the biological world in new ways, from picometre-scale atoms to centimetre-scale tumours. These technological advances will speed up the discovery of new medicines, help find new diagnostics and contribute to a deeper understanding of human health and disease. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our dynamic laboratory at the Rosalind Franklin Institute. If you are a creative scientist that wants to explore novel venues on quantitative imaging biology, join us. Our lab is interested in the molecular organisation of cell interfaces in the epithelial tissue and in the pathology of intestinal diseases. We use super-resolution STED microscopy in combination with gut organoids, biophysics & chemical biology to uncover how epithelial cells organise in space and time under different physico-chemical environments to drive self-organisation processes that shape mesoscale structures enabling tissue function. Responsibilities Lead a research project focused on quantitative imaging of epithelial cell biology and biophysics. Support and develop novel workflows of bioimaging analysis to quantify advanced imaging data generated by super-resolution STED microscopy, FLIM, FRET, and FCS. Collaborate with other research institutions including the University of Oxford. Develop novel ways of analysing complex data (e.g., 3D volumetric STED) that will enable wider scientific discoveries and advance our understanding of biology. Contribute to the positive culture in the Franklin and engage in the development of groups at the Institute. Develop novel pipelines for generating quantitative bioimaging data using various optics and electronic tools. Minimum Requirements Candidates must hold a PhD qualification in cell biology, biophysics, physics, mathematics, or computer science along with experience in advanced quantitative microscopy analysis. We are looking for a colleague with strong organisational and communication skills, with demonstrated laboratory experience. Experience with formulating research questions and devising strategies to address these questions would aid the individual selected for this role. We expect you to lead publications, contribute to research grant writing, and collaborate with other members of the lab towards knowledge advancement. This post would be ideal for a candidate who has developed a strong background in bioimaging analysis, quantitative biology, or biophysics and would like to lead a project developing novel quantitative imaging pipelines and gain further experience in cutting-edge techniques including super-resolution imaging, condensate biology, and cell adhesion in epithelial tissue. Application Process To be considered for this role, please submit a CV and cover letter explaining why you think you are the right person for this job, including information about your education and work experience. Closing date:

The closing date for applications is 23:59 on

Sunday 5th January 2025. We are planning to hold interviews w/c 13th January 2025.
