About the Role
See Me, SAMH and Combat Stress are working in partnership with funding awarded from the Armed Forces Covenant Trust, to understand the nature of and take forward work to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination experienced by ex-servicewomen (including cis and trans women) in Scotland. As part of this project, we are looking to fill an exciting new role. Based at See Me, the Peer Network Facilitator will work closely with See Me and SAMH project staff to identify and link with other ex-servicewomen, veterans organisations and other community-based partners, developing engagement plans and tools and supporting other ex-servicewomen to take part in shaping and delivering the project. The job holder will support and empower other ex-servicewomen from across Scotland to take part in the project in ways that work for them. A key part of addressing stigma is to highlight people's experiences of living with mental health problems and illness, to challenge stereotypes and attitudes and support cultural, behaviour and systems change in ways that make a lasting difference for people struggling with their mental health. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team and lead on lived experience engagement as part of this work. What we are looking for
With strong interpersonal skills, you will facilitate and empower people, particularly ex-servicewomen with lived experience of mental health problems, to take action. You will be able to form strong networks with veterans and mental health related organisations. With your own experiences of being part of the armed forces, along with mental health problems or illness, you will also be able to build up positive, professional relationships with ex-servicewomen, enabling them to engage in the project in ways that work for them.
