Job Summary:

Act as a trusted People Advisor within a matrix environment, providing advice and support to the business. Providing guidance and clarity on all people related policies and procedures. In addition, provide support to all elements of the employee life cycle including Resourcing, L&D, HR Admin, Payroll, Benefits, Parental Leave, Absence and OD support whilst adhering to Canada Life HR policies and procedures. Act as an escalation point for the People Services team in providing second tier support for more complex people matters.

Responsibilities:

Providing advice and guidance on all People Related queries, using an in-depth knowledge of Canada Life People Policies, Payroll, Employment Law and HR best practice, ensuring customer-centric right first time approach is provided. Support the People Partners and relevant Executive and management teams in the implementation of people processes and people plans, such the performance cycle, compensation review, talent management, succession planning and diversity and inclusion. Support on employee relation matters including grievance procedures, investigate employee disciplinary actions and facilitate conflict resolutions in line with Canada Life policies and practices. Advise and coach managers across these employee relations issues taking into account best practice, legislative framework, regulatory environment and commercial factors. Champion the customer to simplify People and Strategy processes optimising straight through processing and eliminating duplication and risk. Identify areas for improvement and simplification collaborating with People and Strategy's SME's to implement continuous improvement. Support organisational design and development projects, and support major organisational change initiatives. This may include operational support and logical planning and execution to facilitate the organisational redesign projects and consultation activity. Collaborate with People and Strategy SME's and PRP's as appropriate to ensure a timely and customer centric response is maintained for complex queries. Interpret People policies to ensure robust processes are in place to improve the customer experience, creating self-serve tools and user guides tools where appropriate.

Experience Required: Knowledge of UK employment law with the ability to educate colleagues and leaders on their understanding. Knowledge of HR policies, processes and procedures and the proven track record of translating these to resolve people queries. Experience in providing advice and guidance on people policies and procedures. Understanding of Risk and how managed within HR. Ability to establish credibility and rapport with employees and managers at all levels. Ability to provide advice on people related matters, simplifying policy and law to support customer understanding. Ability to work at a fast pace and manage changing priorities and varied tasks whilst being organised. Experience of using HR systems, SAP Success Factors would be preferred. Positive "can do" attitude and curiosity to make improvements. Ability to apply systems thinking approach to continuous improvement.

Qualifications (For the job and not the person): CIPD qualified or equivalent would be desirable.
