Permanent Way - Section Manager to join our AIW/IM account in Treforest – on site working role. AIW(IM) is the infrastructure Manager for the railway network running from Cardiff to Treherbert, Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil, Coryton, Rhymney and Cwmbargoed (known as the Core Valleys Lines). It manages all the assets across this network. Permanent Way - Section Manager

plays an important part in assisting the P-Way Engineer in maintaining the P-Way network, delivering maintenance, inspections and renewals works safely in accordance with standards, legislation and Amey procedures to specification and programme; while effectively supervising and delivering the approved construction programmes to the agreed resource and cost plans. The standard hours of work are 35hrs per week. You will be responsible for: Planning and identifying maintenance and renewals works Conducting SVI inspections on Track Conducting CAB rides across the network in accordance with standards Reviewing and signing off inspections Review and analysis of track geometry recordings in conjunction with the engineering team Promoting and leading safe working practices, ensuring full implementation and compliance. Adhering to the Amey Essentials (Zero Code, PDR’s etc.) as applicable. The submission of accurate site records to enable effective monitoring of programme and cost plans as requested to agreed format as applicable. Ensuring that tool box talks, task briefs and COSS briefs are carried out for all work tasks prior to commencement of work for allocated contracts. Ensuring that all allocated tasks are undertaken in accordance with the planned safe method of working. Ordering and receipt of site deliverables, timely returns of goods receipts notices. Ordering and receipt of site plant, including security and timely off–hire. Supervising sub-contractors, contract staff and contingent/direct labour for allocated site activities. Line and people manager duties as required. Carry out annual performance reviews (PDRs) for direct reports, administering poor performance, attendance management and disciplinary procedures as applicable. Undertake regular PDR 1-2-1 conversations and manage staff development of direct reports We want to hear from you if you have: Experience in planning and delivering track maintenance and renewals Able to interpret engineering drawings and technical drawings Environmental awareness COSS TR06 competency 053/054 S&C competency IOSH Managing Safely (or SMSTS / SSSTS) - Preferred PTS certified Effective communication skills Problem solving Experience in managing a team Commercial awareness Computer literacy – Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Projects Full UK driving licence What we can offer you Career Development
