About the Job:

The purpose of this role is to provide one to one care and support to me, a 15 year old young man, with an undiagnosed developmental delay condition. He cannot speak and has some restricted mobility, and he enjoys playing and getting out and about, so a driver and car owner is essential. Main Tasks and Duties:

Help to stimulate and support active play and interaction, predominantly within the young man’s home. Take the young man out on social visits to encourage social inclusion and interaction. To take out and about in your car when required; mileage will be paid at an agreed rate. Always provide one to one care and attention; this will include personal care involving changing pads and clothing when required, in a sensitive and dignified manner. Provide and supervise meals and drinks, being aware of choking hazards. Raise awareness of danger in the current surroundings, providing constant supervision to ensure the young man’s safety. Any other duties that fall within the scope of this role. Person Specification:

Driver and car owner essential; a child car seat will be used in the vehicle. You will need to provide evidence of business insurance. Mileage will be paid at an agreed rate. Establish a professional standard of care which should always be maintained. Undertake the role with due regard to the service user’s physical and psychological needs. Have proven experience of child developmental delay behaviour. Respect and safeguard the goods and property of the family. Respect the privacy of the family and always uphold confidentiality. Be punctual and reliable and have some degree of flexibility. Bear in mind that the role is one of empowerment for the young person. Special Conditions:

A Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) and two satisfactory references are conditional for the post. This is a free and confidential process.
