Job Reference (08cc) We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed Support Worker to provide 1:1 close supervision for a 7-year-old boy with a diagnosis of Autism, Global Development Delay, Epilepsy and who has no verbal communication. This role is to provide support during school holidays as well as term time, 5 hours per week and these can be flexible. You can apply for either term time or holidays, or both, hours will be discussed in interview. The young boy is happy, smiley and full of energy. The support will be delivered both at home and in the community – especially during school holidays, accessing age appropriate, safe, fun 1:1 social and leisure activities, to support with physical and social development. This young boy particularly enjoys trips outdoors in his pushchair, carrying his football and loves short drives out in the car. He makes use of a pushchair when out and about and will require support with personal care including the changing of pull ups. You will be required to administer emergency rescue medication and full training will be provided. The child has no concept of risk and danger and will need somebody who can keep closely monitor him, to ensure his safety at all times. Main Duties · To support the child to access safe, fun, age appropriate 1:1 activities, both at home and in the wider community · To support the child to develop physical and social skills as appropriate · To build a relationship with the child understanding his nature and non verbal communication skills · To support with personal care e.g. changing pull ups · To ensure the child is kept safe from all risks and dangers · To remain calm in emergency situations Hours · 5 hours per week · Hours to be used flexibly and will include weekends. Essential Criteria · Have a high degree of initiative. · Be able to commit to school holidays and possible cover during term time although this isn’t essential · Be punctual and reliable. · Be flexible. · Have a happy, positive, patient and caring nature. · Have an outgoing personality · Experience of working with children with epilepsy and whom have no verbal communication and would desirable An awareness of using Makaton would be an advantage Rates of pay £13.09 per hour. 5.6 weeks holiday (pro rata) Out of pocket expenses will be met by the Employer. This post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and references (Cost to be met by Employer). Car driver is essential and must have Business Insurance.
