The pharmacy service at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has a high profile and is well integrated into multi-disciplinary teams, providing a much valued contribution to patient care. This is an exciting time for our Pharmacy Department as we continue to improve and develop our clinical pharmacy service.

Main duties of the job
This pharmacist post will contribute to our clinical pharmacy service supporting medical and surgical wards as well as the hospital dispensary and aseptic unit. The successful candidates will be able to further develop their clinical and personal skills through on-call and late shift work in the dispensary. There will be opportunities to gain experience in medicines information, procurement, anticoagulation clinics as well as being actively involved in our learning at lunch teaching sessions.

You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The post holder will need to meet deadlines, be adaptable and have the ability to exercise initiative, operate within procedural guidelines and prioritise workloads in response to changing demands.
The post holder is expected to promote the highest standards of professional practice, Trust Policies and Procedures, whilst observing principles of clinical governance, and the Standards of Conduct, Ethics and Performance issued by the General Pharmaceutical Council.
In pursuing these duties the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution.
Job responsibilities
Provide professional and legal clinical supervision in the dispensary as allocated. Provide a clinical service to the wards and departments in accordance with professional, departmental and Trust policies. Participate in the Pharmacy-led outpatient warfarin clinics. Participate in on-call, weekend and bank holiday rotas. Participate in the provision of Technical and Aseptic services to the Trust. Help in the distribution of medicines to patients, wards and departments. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation. Commit to lifelong learning and contribute to personal development. Participate in pharmacy practice research and quality audit projects. Take responsibility for maintaining the security of the department. Support the Trust equality and diversity policy. Comply with Trust infection control policies. Provide professional and courteous service to all staff and patients. Maintain close working links with other members of the pharmacy staff. Comply with the Professional code of ethics, data protection act, and Trust policies. Provide pharmacy services to external customers. Comply with the Trust's policies on Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults. Manoeuvre light goods and equipment in accordance with manual handling regulations. Maintain and process all information concerning patients and staff confidentially. Weekends / Bank Holidays / working hours in line with service needs. Ensure patient safety and experience remains the focus of services. Comply with Good Distribution Practice.

Qualifications
Essential Master's degree in Pharmacy (MPharm) Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or in progress of becoming a qualified pharmacist
Desirable Member of the RPS Member of the UKCPA
Experience
Essential Commitment and evidence of professional updating and formal continuous professional development (CPD)
Desirable Experience of working in a hospital environment.
